Support Aussies with Cancer this September

Every day there are 30 new cases of cancer diagnosed in South Australia alone. This September, shoppers can support South Aussies struggling with the impact of cancer, by purchasing a $2 or $5 token at the register, with 100% of the token sales going directly towards the Cancer Council and Flinders Foundation.

Together, Flinders Foundation and Cancer Council SA are dedicated to reducing the impact of cancer by supporting groundbreaking research, providing essential care, and improving the well-being of the South Australian community. Money raised for these amazing organisations goes towards investment of vital cancer-treatment programs and services, provide accommodation for those travelling for treatment, and fund some of the state’s best and brightest cancer researchers. These efforts help turn hopes for cures and better treatments into reality, making a real difference in the lives of people affected by cancer.

We’re working to reduce the impact of cancer for all South Australians.

Almost one in two of us will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85. But all of us can help improve those odds. Whilst our cancer outcomes continue to be amongst the best in the world, by working together we can all play a part in reducing the impact of cancer for all South Australians.

As South Australia’s leading cancer charity, working across every aspect of every cancer, we support families affected by cancer when they need it most, speak out on behalf of the community on cancer issues, empower people to reduce their cancer risk, and find new ways to better detect and treat cancer.

We are committed to helping any South Australian facing a cancer diagnosis, regardless of where they live. We welcome guests at our Lodge when their cancer treatment centre is further than 100kms away from where they live. Here, they can access a home-away-from-home while they access treatments and cancer related appointments. We offer the most up to date accommodation alongside a range of on-site support services, including Social Workers, Transport to Treatment, kitchen and dining areas and a range of inviting and welcoming communal spaces.

We also offer the 13 11 20 helpline for any questions they or their family and friends might have about their cancer diagnosis or treatment, where they can talk to an oncology nurse.

We help people from the point of diagnosis through to their treatment and beyond.

Together, it’s all of us against cancer.

Get to know Flinders Foundation

We’re the official charity for Flinders Medical Centre, proudly supporting patients and their families throughout their health journey.

We work together with individuals and organisations in the community to support health and medical research and patient care. This includes Flinders University and the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network – incorporating Flinders Medical Centre, Noarlunga Hospital, the Repat Health Precinct, and community health sites.

Together, we raise vital funds to support leading clinicians and researchers to make new discoveries, deliver better research, treatment, and care, and ensure they have the latest technology in the best environment to care for patients and their families.

Each year at Flinders, more than 45,000 appointments are provided for people with cancer, and around 2,500 South Australians are diagnosed with the disease. With support from the South Australian community, we built The Flinders Centre for Innovation in Cancer (FCIC) in 2012 – a place where patients, researchers, and clinicians work together to create positive impacts in cancer.

Thanks to generous community support, dedicated researchers and clinicians at Flinders can continue groundbreaking research and provide the best possible care to people affected by a range of diseases, illnesses, and social issues.
